NATO Golfers,
The new season is upon us. We held two friendlies over the summer break and on Saturday the 4th of September was our Barry Carr Memorial at Pierpont.
Lets start with the less than good news first. We only had 8 players. Realizing this was close held just after the summer breaks and right around the start of school, I am hoping we can do better.
Now, back to the positive. Firstly, the weather was great. Second, the course was in excellent condition. Along with this, the group remained for dinner afterwards for the trophy awarding and a good catch up. It was really nice to be able to meet as a group again.
Our intrepid group went off in two groups. Our first group received two birdies on shot one, though those two geese wish they have not been in the way........
Starting with the side event trophies first. Berit Nielsen did very well on Saturday. Berit took the longest drive with the ladies. Shortly after, Berit took closest to the pin, and finished the hole out with a birdie. It was great to watch. Additionally, Berit took second place in the Barry Carr Memorial, giving Berit a total of 4 season long points for the day.
Beni took longest drive on the men's side. An excellent drive into the wind in a hard fairway.......
Now, to our Champion. Our 2021-2022 Barry Carr Champion is Gijs "George" Van Keulen. Having been grouped with George it was great to watch such a steady play across the course.
