June marked the execution of our Club Championship at Chateau de la Tournette, a course only a slight drive to the south of Brussels which at this time of the year is always in great shape. We had a good turn out and the mixed approach to points competition made for a great day of friendly competition.

Three groups were formed by handicap rating. Category 1 consisted of our lowest handicap players (0-13 HC), Category 2 consisted of our mid-range handicap players (13.1 – 20 HC), and Category 3 was comprised by our higher handicap players (20.1+ HC). In addition to awarding first and second place in each category we also competed for longest drive (male and female), closest to the pin (which no one got on the green for…), putting champion (lowest overall puts for the day), and the overall club champion.

Darryl Rupp proved to be the golfer to beat this weekend racking up an impressive 8 points in securing the club championship, first place in category 1, and longest drive. Needless to say, it is safe to assume that he was prepared for the competition.

Katrine Wien took home first place in category 2. As we can all attest Katrine is consistently steady from the tee to the green and she set the pace for her category.

DI had an impressive showing in category 3. She also walked away with the longest drive for females. A great effort to say the least!

Our putting champion this year was Jeff Smith who came in with 31 total putts for the day.

As a closing thought, Jon Gunther will assume the role as captain for the Season Closing Cup at Golf Club Enghien which will take place on 12 July. Thanks again for these past two years and the opportunity to serve as your captain. The NGC is in good hands with Jon and I know he will do well.
