2024-2025 President’s Cup: A new winner is crowned!

For the month of April, we traveled 35 minutes south of Brussels to play Golf de Louvain-La-Neuve which is another one of the staple courses that we play on a yearly basis.  While the round was interrupted for what can best be described as a 20 minute “Belgian monsoon” we were treated to a course that was in great condition and enjoyed good comradery amongst the group.  For this year’s President’s Cup 13 of our members signed up.  This is a good trend for the NGC as we have steadily seen increased numbers of members playing our monthly events.  Please continue to put the word out to the rest of the club.

Jon Gunther proved to be the winner of the day and closed out the event with an impressive Stableford points total, with this victory Jon has positioned himself as tied for first place overall in points standings.  Ken Emerson was a close second.

Ken also walked away with the longest male drive.  With his second-place finish and long drive Ken took home 3 season points.

Simone dialed in her game this weekend and put on not only a driving clinic but was also very accurate with her irons.  Simone secured the longest drive of the day for females and also won closest to the pin on hole #14 amongst all players.  Well done!

This week also marked the NGC annual general meeting at dinner.  The event was a great way to get together socially.  Of note, the group voted unanimously to approve Jon Gunther to serve as our next NGC Captain as I will depart this summer to the United States.  Thanks for all your support over these past two years in making this a great club.  Jon is the right person for the job and I know he will be an outstanding captain.

Our next event is a Friendly on 17 May at Golf L’Empereur.  Personally speaking I think this is the nicest course we play and would encourage that if your schedule permits to think about joining us, you will not be disappointed!

Thanks for all the support for our club and best of luck for the rest of the 2024-2025 season.
