The November Friendly was set up as a 4BBB challenge partly in preparation for the forthcoming match against the SHAPE Golf Association but also to enjoy some comradery and laughs in a pairs format. No extra points for the winners but some lovely prizes for the best pairings. The weather was unseasonably mild as we once again visited the deceptively long and challenging Rigenee Golf Club. 7 pairs took up the challenge with Mikkel and Martijn making their first guest appearance amongst the NGC regulars.

Despite the benign conditions complicated by gritted fairways, scoring was generally tough. That said Jan and Mikkel set the early pace with a very respectable 20 points after 9 holes with Matt and Di in close contention with 19 points. The rest of the field were over par although Josh Davidson blew the competition away with an enormous drive on the 8th to claim the longest drive prize.

The turn for home saw the field pick up their game with some outstanding scoring. Arvid & Josh and Jon & Trevor came home in 21 points, the latter finishing in 3rd spot overall with 37 points. Joe and Rick turned on the style with a stunning score of 24 points to finish on 40 points overall. Could the Danish dynamite complete the job? No doubt at all as Jan Johansen and Mikkel Vallesholm completed an outstanding round, scoring a total of 42 points to win by 2. The 18th saw a number of excellent shots as the field battled for the closest to the pin title; however, Trevor McLean hit the very first approach within a couple of metres to claim the prize.

With the Friendly being our third event of the year, the season standings are close with Joe and Ramon setting the pace and Matt and Darryl in hot pursuit. But a number of others are only a point back.

Our next event is a golf match versus the SHAPE Golf Association which will take place on 15 November at Brabantse Golf Club. The Christmas Cracker will take place on 7 December at the Royal Golf Club of Hainaut for our final festive competition of the year.  Please help to get the word out to our members and sign up early. A perfect opportunity to show off those Christmas jumpers!
