The Winter Challenge saw 11 golfers from the NGC take on the beautiful course at Royal Keerbergen. Although initially a doubles match, some rapid replanning saw attendees agree to play a singles stableford competition instead. Although greeted by thick fog, conditions and the terrain were a marked difference to our previous round at Winge. The leader in the standings led the first flight out, with Rick, who is in fine form, in the flight behind. We were joined for the first time by Julian who with Robbie and Mikael joined the captain in the final four-ball.

The Leader in the Season Standings tees off into the gloom.

The opening 9 holes saw steady scoring as the conditions improved from fog into glorious winter sunshine. Josh led the way with 17 points, with Joe a point behind, and Rick and Jon in the hunt. The longest drive was sown up with a monster drive by Joe on the 7th and despite close competition from Mikael a laser guided closest to the pin saw Joe take both prizes to maintain his push for the title.

Rick takes the prize and wins the Winter Challenge.
With the sun shining, course conditions improved significantly as Rick put together a fine back 9 coming home 3 clear of the field. Despite missing the first 3 competitions of the season, Rick moves into second place in the standings, and may yet deny Joe the title. Josh maintained his impressive recent form with a well deserved second place with Trevor close behind. The Captain just missed out on the points (again!). Joe sadly had to depart early but he adds 2 additional crystal balls to his collection along with the points to stretch his advantage.

Katrin accepts Joe's CTTP and LD prizes.

The updated season standings sees Joe stretch his lead to 5 points with Rick the player in form. Can he overhaul Joe and take the title with 4 events to play?
Our next event is the Presidents Cup at Falnuee on 18 April. This will be followed by the AGM on 21 April. Please sign up for both now on the website.
