The 2017 Championship match was held as planned at Winge on 9 September even though the rains threatened a wholesale cancellation. We were in and out of the rain jackets, and up and down with umbrellas, but all were happy to be out swinging away. Winge proved to be a tough course with narrow fairways and undulating greens greeting the 9 intrepid golfers. The scores were testimony to the course and the conditions, but we declared victory as always with trophies and beers.
In Category 2 (HCI >17.1) Chris Mooneyham won the honor with a net 75. Category 1 (HCI < 17) was won by Jeff DaRin also with a net 75. Jeff also won the Best Putter trophy with an amazing 27 putts for the round. It’s no surprise then that Jeff took the Championship Trophy home as well with a gross score of 88. Congratulations to them both!”
