"Well it wouldn't be the President's Cup without the rain. No break in the tradition for 2017 at Enghein, but by the afternoon it was glorious sunshine and blue skies.
The Cup saw 6 players in the main event and Luc Van de Winckel led a foursome with three new Club members on the 9-hole Brunehault course. It was the first outing with the Club for Wolfgang and Christina Wein and for Luc's wife An. They joined us for dinner and prizes afterward of course.
The President laid on a great awards bench with a cool and wet gear theme to match the season and the history of the Cup. Longest drive went to Jim Edge, though it must be noted that Jeff DaRin crushed one. EJ Herold put it nearest to the pin for the day.
Given the field, we played a single Stableford category and awarded first and second places in the main Cup, and an award to the best score in the Brunehault match. That award went to Wolfgang with 18 Stableford points in 9 holes. Second place in the Cup was James Mackey with 30 points and the winner of the President's Cup with 37 points was Jim Edge. EJ Herold and Jeff DaRin also posted great scores on this very challenging course.
Dinner was superb afterwards. The staff at Enghein were most accomodating and the President treated us to a few extra goodies ahead of the main meal. Long chats into the evening by a great group of people; a big welcome to our new members and huge thanks to our President for making it a special day.
