We all spent a most enjoyable day at Pierpont for the Captain’s Cup. The Captain organized his special day perfectly, right down to the weather – the sky was blue, the sun shone, the temperature was perfect and the course was in excellent condition.
We had a good turnout – 15 – including a new member who had played in the match against SHAPE but who was playing his first NGC regular event – Luc Van de Wincle – a very warm welcome to you Luc. One of our long time members, Bjarne ‘Andy” Anderson, was playing his last outing with us. We will miss him very much but wish him happy golfing and all the best when he returns to retire in Denmark. Sadly both Ron Dobson and Brigitte Horton had to cancel at the last minute due to injuries. We wish them both a speedy and full recovery.
There were some very good scores and the overall winner and winner of Category 2 with a score of 38 Stableford was Dany de Lange. Well done Dany! The winner of Category 1 (on count back) was Dave Walsh followed by Dick Zandee in second position and Paula Stewart was runner up in Category 2. She, Dave and Dick all had a score of 35 Stableford.
In the Ladies category, the longest drive (LD) was won by Nikki Hayes and the nearest to the pin (NP) by Paula Stewart. In the Mens category, the longest drive (LD) was won by Robert Draper and the nearest to the pin (NP) by Rick Froh. Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to all the participants, especially the Captain, for making it such a special day!
